Deterministic financial document extraction
Lower extraction costs. Better financial data. Faster credit reviews.
No-AI data extraction. No OCR. No offshore review shops. Better extraction pricing. Bring supported borrower documents into a financial workspace with the supporting evidence available for review.
The output is a starting point for financial analysis, not a substitute for it.
A financial value needs more than a field name
A useful result needs context. Which document contains the figure? Which reporting period does it describe? Does it represent a reported amount or a calculation? Is there a discrepancy that needs attention?
Those questions shape how an analyst uses extracted information. SpreadSpace connects the document-processing result to a review workflow so the source remains available when the figures become part of the financial analysis.
Mathematical checks before data moves downstream
For supported documents, SpreadSpace mathematically cross-checks extracted figures wherever the available document values allow them to be reconciled.
An extraction that does not meet validation requirements is rejected rather than silently passed downstream. When an extraction is retained despite a discrepancy, it includes an explicit notice for analyst review.
This makes the exception part of the review. It does not turn an unresolved difference into an apparently verified number.
Validate figures against the document’s own relationships
Validation is an essential part of deterministic extraction. SpreadSpace reads the reported figures and reconciles every figure that has a supported mathematical relationship with the related line items, totals and schedules available in the document. This provides checks for missing signs, incomplete numbers and amounts that do not agree across the return.
For a Form 1120 return, Form 1125-A line 8 ties to cost of goods sold on Form 1120 line 2. Net revenue on line 1c minus gross profit on line 3 provides another check of that same cost of goods sold figure.
Officer compensation can be checked from the detail through to the return: the sum (Σ) of the officer amounts on Form 1125-E line 1 ties to line 2. After subtracting compensation already claimed elsewhere on line 3, line 4 ties to officer compensation on Form 1120 line 12.
Extracting the supporting detail gives each total more than one point of comparison. Where the document supplies those relationships, we use them to check that the extracted figures agree with the source.
Review the discrepancy without losing the reported figures
When a printed amount and a computed amount are different, the distinction matters. The API documents how reported and calculated values are represented rather than treating them as interchangeable.
Validation signals help direct review. An absent signal is not a blanket statement that every field was checked. Analysts and developers should read the documented meaning of a result rather than infer a stronger guarantee from silence.
Connect the result to its evidence
Analysts can review source-backed figures in the workspace or embedded review panel, where the supporting document location is highlighted. The review experience makes it possible to examine the evidence alongside the financial analysis.
Work with the documents in the credit file
Coverage includes supported business and personal tax returns, bank statements, financial statements, debt schedules and accounts receivable and payable aging reports.
Each family serves a different part of the review. A return, a current company statement and bank activity should not be treated as interchangeable evidence. Use the relevant source for the question being examined and keep that distinction when the data moves into a spread.

Move from extracted data to reviewed analysis
Extraction results and analyst-approved spreads are separate outputs. An application can retrieve document data through the API, while an analyst can review the information in the workspace and finalize the spread when the analysis is ready.
That distinction lets your workflow use extraction as an input without misrepresenting it as an approved credit analysis.
Questions about deterministic extraction
How are extracted figures checked against the document?
SpreadSpace extracts the numbers printed in supported documents through repeatable processing and validates them against the document’s own arithmetic and supporting schedules. Checks are built into every figure with a supported relationship, including component sums, subtotals and matching amounts elsewhere on the return. Those cross-checks help detect missed signs or incomplete numbers. The more supporting detail we extract, the more ways we have to verify the figure.
What happens when figures do not reconcile?
An extraction that fails validation requirements is rejected. A retained extraction with a discrepancy carries an explicit notice. The notice is a reason to inspect the result, not a reason to conceal the difference.
Can we judge extraction quality using the sandbox?
The documented test mode uses sample extraction results for integration testing. Evaluate document quality separately with representative supported files and a review of both the returned values and exception behavior.
Evaluate the results, including the exceptions
Bring a representative document set, including difficult files and known inconsistencies. Review the extracted figures, source access and handling of exceptions alongside the successful results.
